Quick shot driving down our country road a few summers ago. |
I love summer sunsets in Ohio. Actually, one of my favorite things is the seasonal change in the color of the evening sunset around here. In the summer the hues of pink and orange remind me of sherbet! The color of the dark blue and purple clouds against the multi-colored sky is striking in contrast. No grand vista or mountain view, but I still think a cornfield sunset around my neighborhood is pretty hard to top. The best colors are seen after a hot day when the temperature does begin to cool a bit, but its still humid and dewy. The sights, sounds, smells, and colors of the summer evening are a perfect reason to stay behind the lens!

Old Hymn: “Summers suns are glowing”
by William How
Summer suns are glowing over land
and sea;
Happy light is flowing, bountiful
and free;
Everything rejoices in the mellow
rays;
Earth’s ten thousand voices swell
the psalm of praise.
Lord, upon our blindness Thy pure
radiance pour;
For Thy lovingkindness we would love
Thee more;
And when clouds are drifting dark
across the sky,
Then, the veil uplifting, Father, be
Thou nigh.
We will never doubt Thee, though
Thou veil Thy light;
Life is dark without Thee, death
with Thee is bright;
Light of light, shine o’er us on our
pilgrim way;
Go Thou still before us to the
endless day.
Psalm 36:5-6
Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy
faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. Thy
righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O
LORD, thou preservest man and beast
